Chris Arreola – Tony Thompson: ESPN2’s Friday Night Fights RESULTS

By Geno McGahee

Chris Arreola, 32-2, 28 KO’s, battered Kendrick Releford, 22-15-2, 10 KO’s, for seven rounds before the referee had seen enough. Releford couldn’t keep Arreola off. He just kept coming forward and finally found his way through the defense and landed some vicious uppercuts to convince the ref to stop it. Arreola is still keeping his weight under control and looked pretty good despite the mediocre opponent in front of him.

Tony “The Tiger” Thompson, 36-2, 24 KO’s, was aggressive early, and pounded Maurice Harris, 24-15-2, 10 KO’s, to the floor in the second round. Harris would arise, but the punishment would continue in the third round, and the fight would be waved off. Thompson is one step closer to getting a title shot, and is one of the best active American heavyweights. He’s lost to Wladimir Klitschko, but he is still a live underdog with any champion. It was another good win for Thompson.
