Grady Brewer Vs Fernando Guerrero: ESPN2’s Friday Night Fights Returns

By Geno McGahee

Tomorrow on ESPN2’s Friday Night Fights, ring veteran and former Contender Champion, Grady Brewer, 27-12, 15 KO’s, returns to the ring and vies for the NABF Light Middleweight Title against undefeated Fernando Guerrero, 21-0, 16 KO’s.

The record of Brewer is deceiving. He has a lot of losses, but he also has faced a great deal of quality opposition. His record since 2006 is 9-1, 3 KO’s, with the only loss being a TKO stoppage at the hands of the undefeated Erislandy Lara. He will be a very stern challenge for Guerrero.

Guerrero has defeated a couple of ring veterans, including Saul Duran (KO-4) and Ishe Smith (UD-10). He is being groomed to be a champion but he must get beyond another veteran in Brewer tomorrow night.

On the undercard, 28 year old American heavyweight “Freight Train” Maurice Byarm, 11-0, 8 KO’s, will take on Homero Fonseca, 9-4-2, 2 KO’s, in a six round bout. Byarm has not faced anyone with a pulse yet, and Fonseca has never been stopped, so the motive may be to get the young prospect some rounds.
