Alistair Overeem: UFC Heavyweight Title or Klitschko Brothers?

By Sean Farrell

Has the time come for Alistair Overeem to dominate the Klitschko Brothers? I Doubt it. Has the time come for him to enter the UFC and destroy everyone to silence critics? I think so. I gave received news that the Strikeforce promotion has cut their heavyweight champion from their roster. (Yes. They CM Punked him in a way I guess).

Why? That is your next question and sadly I don’t know why. Overeem has been released and the promotion won’t say either way whether or not The Reem has actually been let go.

Overeem was in contract renegotiation talks with the promotion, as he was coming up on the last fight of his current contract. That fight was expected to be in the Grand Prix against Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva this fall in the semi-finals round of the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix, but Overeem pulled out of that fight with a broken toe after Showtime wouldn’t push the event back two weeks.

It was announced after Overeem’s removal from the tournament that the 31-year-old champion would be taking part in a MMA event this October — United Glory World Series, which will take place in Moscow, Russia — headed by his Golden Glory trainer Martin De Jong. Those events are better than all the other events in my opinion so maybe Overeem is honing his skills for the UFC Heavyweight division.

Overeem has been plagued by more serious injuries than he’s let on and he may possibly be suffering with his ribs and an elbow as well.

Whatever is next for Overeem we must keep up to date with, he is a remarkable heavyweight talent and is a must see fighter.

Do you think Boxing or MMA puts on better fights on the championship levels?
