Alexander Povetkin – Marco Huck HEAVYWEIGHT BOXING SHOCKER – RESULTS

By Geno McGahee

Despite a terrible referee that felt the need to stop all infighting, Marco Huck, 34-2, 25 KO’s, should have walked away with the WBA Heavyweight title, but the judges saw it another way and gave it to Alexander Povetkin, 23-1, 16 KO’s, by scores of 114-114, 116-113, and 116-112.

Povetkin started imposing his weight early, but the momentum went to Huck and the champion was tired in the later rounds. Povetkin looked a little out of shape for this fight as well and it showed in the later rounds. He is lucky that his former trainer, Teddy Atlas kept him far away from Wladimir Klitschko.

It was decent scrap with Huck having the edge, but walks away without the title he earned tonight.
