Boxing News: Diego Magdaleno Stops Fernando Beltran in SEVEN

Unbeaten, world-ranked super featherweight Diego Magdaleno (22-0, 8 KOs) scored a seventh round TKO over late sub Fernando Beltran Jr. (36-8-1, 20 KOs) at Casino Del Sol in Tucson, Arizona. Beltran knocked down Magdalano in round four, which infuriated Magdaleno who got up and battered Beltran for the rest of the round. Magdaleno floored Beltran in the seventh and Beltran’s corner threw in the towel shortly after. Time was 2:28.

In an entertaining clash of undefeated junior welterweights, Johnny Garcia (12-0, 8 KOs) won an eight round split decision over former international amateur standout and 2008 Cuban Olympic Bronze Medalist Yordenis Ugas (11-1, 5 KOs). Ugas dropped Garcia in round five, but Garcia was the aggressor and prevailed by scores of 76-75, 76-75 on two cards. Ugas was up 76-75 on the third card.

Unbeaten heavyweight Andy Ruiz Jr (14-0, 8 KOs) shut out Homero Fonseca (9-5-3, 2 KOs), winning 80-72 on all cards in an eight-rounder. It was a crowd-pleasing slugfest despite the lopsided score.

Unbeaten middleweight Abie Han (16-0, 10 KOs) outpointed Rahman Yusubov (13-6, 11 KOs) over six rounds.
