Jon Jones – UFC FUTURE DECIDED

By Vinnie Franklin

Last Saturday, it was settled. Jon “Bones” Jones held onto that UFC Light Heavyweight Title against the formidable Rashad Evans, bringing him to the record of 17-1. The next opponent for this guy is Dan Henderson, a good fighter, but I don’t think that Jones will go to bed, hiding under the blankets, worried. It’ll be another day in the office.

Who can beat Jones? The guy has already taken out Lyoto Machida, Shogun Rua, Rampage Jackson and now Evans. They weren’t even close. Even his defeat can be thrown out. He got a little excited and got DQ’d against Matt Hamill in 2009. Jones is a puzzle that nobody has come close to figuring out. Evans had five rounds to do it and couldn’t find any successful route. It’s safe to say that the pound for pound best in the game is Jones…until further notice.

Now, the word in the world of MMA and you know I have my finger on the pulse, is that Jones has major interest in swimming out to the mainstream and getting in front of that camera and making some movies. UFC guys have done it before. Rampage Jackson was in the A-TEAM and THE EXPENDABLES had Randy Couture. You can go beyond that to pro wrestling with The Rock, Hulk Hogan and John Cena making successful runs at the box office.

This is a new world for combat sports. If you are successful enough, the big screen will call your name. It’s calling Jon Jones. He will answer. Get ready, the MMA superstar will be kicking and choking his way into the movie theaters across the board man. The guy’s future so bright, I’m wearing shades!
