Chad Dawson – Bernard Hopkins Boxing Results

By Geno McGahee

Chad Dawson, 31-1, 17 KO’s, survived some head butts and mauling to dominate Bernard Hopkins, 52-6-2, 32 KO’s, en route to a majority decision by scores of 114-114 and 117-111 (twice). There was no question as to who won this fight. Hopkins couldn’t get anything accomplished and just made it an ugly fight. Dawson tried to control the bout but was frustrated at times and suffered cuts over both eyes due to the “accidental” head butts of Hopkins. Dawson showed interest in moving down to 168 to take on the big names at super middleweight and is open to taking on any light heavyweight as well.

Seth Mitchell, 25-0-1, 19 KO’s, survived the first round where he was battered and stunned by Chazz Witherspoon, 30-3, 22 KO’s, to wear him down with body shots and chop him to the floor in round three, eventually stopping him against the ropes. Mitchell’s demeanor, aggression and black trunks are very reminiscent of Mike Tyson. He is very raw but he’s got huge heart and power…a great addition to the division that sincerely needs it.
