Rafael Marquez No Longer Facing Wilfredo Vazquez JR.: Manny Pacquiao News

Former WBO super bantamweight champion Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. (21-2-1, 18 KOs) will now face WBO #3 Jonathan “Polvo” Oquendo (22-2, 15 KOs) on October 6 at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, in a PR Best Boxing Promotions (PRBBP) presentation, in association with All Star Boxing, Top Rank and Promociones Zanfer to be broadcast on Pay Per View.

“Rafael Marquez is facing health problems and working on some personal issues and will not fight against Wilfredo Vazquez Jr.,” Peter Rivera, PRBBP Vice-President, said. “Now, we are going to make Vazquez Jr. against Oquendo, a fight long awaited by Puerto Rican fans.”

Also, former two time world champion Ivan “Iron Boy” Calderon (35-2-1, 6 KOs), will face WBO minimum (105 pounds) champion Moises Fuentes (15-1, 7 KOs); #4 WBO lightweight ranked, unbeaten Jose “Chelo” Gonzalez (20-0, 15 KOs) will face Eudy Bernardo (13-0, 8 KOs) for the WBO Latino lightweight title, and former Olympians Victor Bisbal (20-1, 14 KOs) and Alex Gonzalez (20-7, 10 KOs) will fight in a heavyweight bout scheduled for eight rounds.

In other boxing news, there is nothing new to report on Manny Pacquiao at this time….
