Amir Khan, 23-1, 17 KO’s, dominated Paulie Malignaggi, 27-4, 5 KO’s, en route to an eleventh round stoppage. It was obvious from the start that Malignaggi’s lack of punching power was the deciding factor in the fight. Khan landed his hard jab and occasional right hands to rattle and batter Malignaggi. Referee Steve Smoger saw enough punishment in the 11th round. Smoger, as always was on top of his game and looked out for the safety of the fighter. It was a predictable win for Khan, a fighter that has questions about his chin. They won’t be answered until he fights a big puncher, something that Malignaggi is not.

Victor Ortiz, 27-2-1, 21 KO’s, had no issue beating Nate Campbell, 33-6-1, 25 KO’s, every minute of every round en route to a ten round unanimous decision by scores of 100-89 (twice) and 99-90.  It was obvious that Campbell had nothing left.  He could not pull the trigger and just followed Ortiz around the ring, never accomplishing a thing. Ortiz did well and showed improvement, presenting a boxer/puncher, moving when he had to, and being aggressive when needed.  It was a very good performance.
