Orlando Salido Vs Miguel Angel Garcia: BOXING BREAKDOWN – Saturday Night HBO Showdown

By Geno McGahee

Orlando Salido, 39-11-2, 27 KO’s, is the WBO Featherweight champion, but his most notable recent accomplishment was the derailment of the undefeated Puerto Rican star, Juanma Lopez. In 2011, he stopped Lopez in 8 rounds and would win the rematch via TKO in 10 rounds. He also dropped the talented Yuriokis Gamboa before dropping a decision in 2010.

Salido has put together five straight knockout wins and has come into his own. He is willing to walk through punches in order to win, but his opponent on Saturday may be packing too much of a punch.

Miguel Angel Garcia, 30-0, 26 KO’s, has been plowing over his opposition with ease and is stepping up as he faces Salido. He will be seeking the knockout but can he avoid the mistakes that Juanma made and take home the WBO title on Saturday night? Garcia holds wins over Bernabe Concepcion (TKO-7), Rafael Guzman (TKO-4) and Jonathan Barros (TKO-8), but he will have his hands full with the cagy veteran and champion.

If Garcia can maintain focus, we may have a new champion, but Salido is very cagy and has a lot of momentum currently. Expect a war.
