Juan Carlos Burgos, 30-1-1, 20 KO’s, was robbed of his rightful championship win with a ridiculous draw with the WBO super featherweight champion, Roman Martinez, 26-1-2, 16 KO’s. The scores were 117-111 for Burgos, 116-112 for Martinez, and 114-114.

From the opening bell, Burgos worked the body with ferocity and wore down the champion with the consistency of the attack. He was comfortable and used his body attack to keep Martinez out of his game. The later rounds, which is usually good for Martinez, wasn’t. He was too beaten. This was a clear victory for Burgos, but this is boxing and this is why people hate the sport.

This was a terrible decision. Burgos, without question, clearly won this fight.
