Canadian Video Game Awards – “I Love Games and My Pompadour!” — Canadian Video Game Fan #1

Sponsored by Future Shop, the CVAs return to Vancouver this April with two new categories!

You have only 10 days remaining to get your nominations in for the 4th Annual Canadian Videogame Awards, to be held at the Vancouver Convention Centre on April 20th, 2013. This year’s show, sponsored by Future Shop, will once again celebrate the best and brightest of the Canadian videogame industry. Developers, publishers and industry leaders from across Canada will gather in beautiful Vancouver to recognize the outstanding achievements of 2012.

Nominations are for work developed in Canada and released in 2012, and are welcome from all parts of Canada’s game industry. The Call for Nominations will close on February 1, 2013.  The award categories, as determined by a committee of industry leaders from across Canada, are:

  • Best Audio
  • Best Console Game
  • Best Downloadable Game
  • Best Game Design
  • Best Game on the Go
  • Best Game Innovation
  • Best Indie Game
  • Best New Character
  • Best Original Music
  • Best Social/Casual Game
  • Best Technology
  • Best Visual Arts
  • Best Writing
  • Game of the Year

The two new categories for this year’s awards show are:

  • Best Animation
  • Future Shop Fan Choice Award

Finalists in all categories will be announced March 11, 2013, when public voting for the Future Shop Fan Choice Award will open.

The Canadian Videogame Awards will be held during   Fan Expo in Vancouver, and
are produced by Reboot Communications and Greedy Productions. The Awards are officially endorsed by the Entertainment Software Association of Canada and DigiBC. The producers are joined by a national industry committee of developers and leaders of the Canadian digital entertainment industry.
