Nonito Donaire KNOCKS OUT Vic Darchinyan Again – Boxing Results & News

By Geno McGahee

It was a tough fight for Nonito Donaire, 32-2, 21 KO’s, but he was able to find the same left hook that he found in 2007 when he first stopped Vic Darchinyan, 39-6-1, 28 KO’s, to get the knockout victory in the ninth round of a great fight. Darchinyan came in very motivated and was able to land and stun Donaire on several occasions but with the fight relatively even going into the ninth round, they both opened up and that would be the end of it.

Darchinyan landed a great uppercut but the left hook would be the return immediately and put Darchinyan on his back. He got up and tried to find his legs, but he just couldn’t do it in time to keep Donaire off. The referee saw enough after an onslaught of punches and saved Darchinyan and waved it off.

At that point in the fight, Darchinyan was ahead by four points on two cards. Donaire pulled it out of the fire, but he didn’t look great in the fight. Darchinyan has to be given great credit for putting up a great effort and coming to win. It should be interesting to see where Donaire goes from here.
