David “Nino” Rodriguez KNOCKED OUT: Heavyweight Hopeful SHOCKED by Darnell Wilson – HEAVYWEIGHT BOXING NEWS

By Geno McGahee

David Rodriguez, 36-1, 34 KO’s, returned to the ring in his first fight in two years. The opponent was carefully selected much like all of the other men that were deemed pitiful enough to face Rodriguez, but things did not go as planned. Darnell Wilson, 25-17-3, 21 KO’s, came into the ring without much hope. He had lost 12 of his last 14 fights and he was a blown up cruiserweight that is 39-years-old. His chances of upsetting Rodriguez seemed long, but in the sixth round, it would be over and the wrong guy would be knocked flat.

A left hook flattened Rodriguez and ended his run as a fringe contender in the heavyweight division. Rodriguez was known for his first round knockouts and his lackluster competition and the lack of true tests and the time off led to this disaster. It’s a tough loss for the heavyweight and it’s hard to imagine him coming back and making any serious impact on the division. It was another fraud exposed.
