Tommy Karpency Beats Rayco Saunders: Boxing News

Former WBO and IBO world title challenger Tommy Karpency (22-4-1) dominated and shutout veteran Rayco “War” Saunders (23-22) on Friday night at the Waterfront Place Hotel in Morgantown, WV. Scores were 60-54 on all cards. After the fight, Karpency said that he wanted to fight for another WBO world title, citing his performance against top rated Andrzej Fonfara. “Fonfara does not deserve a fight with Stevenson or Kovalev. I want to fight the best, undefeated light heavy champ Sergey Kovalev (23-0-1).”

On the undercard, undefeated heavyweight Jeremiah Karpency (10-0) shutout former IBF world title challenger Rubin “Hollywood” Williams (29-23) over 8 rounds. Scores were 80-72 on all cards. Also, 6’7 249 pound heavyweight Daniel “The Mountain” Martz (10-1-1) destroyed former U.S. Olympian Dante Craig (20-19) by TKO after dominating from the outset. Referee Mike Napple halted the fight at 2:04 of round 2.

In addition, Dan Karpency (2-0) won a 4 round unanimous decision over Greg Thomas (0-2), while Brett Simmons (2-0-2) stopped Cliff Gregory (1-11-4) in the 4th of a scheduled 6 rounder. The show was promoted by Dyer Promotions.
