Arthur Abraham Defeats Robert Stieglitz – Boxing News

The camps of newly crowned WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham and former champion Robert Stieglitz have very differing opinions on the scoring in Abraham’s split decision victory over Stieglitz in their trilogy’s rubber match on Saturday night in Magdeburg, Germany.

Robert Stieglitz: To me I didn’t lose. This was a robbery. I was clearly ahead on points. Arthur was very clever and mobile, tactically he adjusted well.

Stieglitz trainer Dirk Dzemski: I’m disappointed by the decision. For me personally this is sad because I’m a fair sportsman.

Stieglitz promoter Ulf Steinforth: I feel we got cheated here. We didn’t lose here. It was great publicity for the sport of boxing and we look forward to the next fights of Robert Stieglitz.

Arthur Abraham: I’m happy that I’m world champion again. It was a very hard fight. We gave everything. I won the fight with the knockdown.

Abraham trainer Ulli Wegner: I am very satisfied. Arthur clearly landed the more effective punches. All respect for the courage of a lion from Robert Stieglitz.

Abraham promoter Wilfried Sauerland: It was a close but deserved victory for Arthur.

Abraham promoter Kalle Sauerland: Robert has improved a lot over the years. It was a great fight and great advertising for this sport.
