Tony Thompson Defeats Odlanier Solis: “Bring on the Klitschko Sisters” – Boxing News

“Tony Thompson rules and Odlanier Solis drools. Bring on the Klitschko sisters, he will beat them both!” — Antonio Martin, RSR #1 Reader

42-year-old Tony “The Tiger” Thompson remains a factor in the heavyweight division, dashing the hopes of yet another highly regarded heavyweight in Odlanier Solis on Saturday night in Turkey. “For now we’ll enjoy the moment, rest a little bit and then look what offers come,” said Thompson after the fight. “Whoever wants me knows how to reach me. I’m happy and satisfied that everything worked so well and that I got a fair decision. Now let’s see what happens next.”

On the other hand, Solis’ performance left a bitter taste for promoter Ahmet Öner, who signed the former Olympic heavyweight gold medalist out of the amateurs and stood by “La Sombra” his entire pro career. “I’m very disappointed in Solis,” said Öner. “With such a big opportunity I would have expected that he would really give everything and run through a wall, if need be. But he didn’t even knock on the wall. He was lethargic and didn’t deserve to win this fight. Congratulations to Tony Thompson, who had a good performance.”
