Juan Manuel Marquez Outpoints Mike Alvarado: Manny Pacquiao Rematch Set Up – Boxing News

By Geno McGahee

Juan Manuel Marquez, 56-7-1, 40 KO’s, has set up another meeting with Manny Pacquiao with a unanimous decision over the game, Mike Alvarado, 34-3, 23 KO’s, by scores of 117-109 (twice) and 119-108, but the fight was a lot close than the scorecards indicated. It’s been proven that the “name” fighter will not lose on the cards. Floyd Mayweather, JR – Marcos Maidana and Manny Pacquiao – Timothy Bradley II have proven that the deck is stacked and that the judges are dirty. I had Marquez winning this fight, but 119-108 is laughable.

Marquez dominated the majority of the early rounds, using his skills to control the aggressive Alvardo. In the 8th round, he would drop Alvarado hard, but he would rise. In the 9th round, Marquez tried to finish the fight but would find himself on the floor and the fight would change.

It was a battle and Alvarado gave a good account of himself and fought evenly a lot of the time. This fight was Marquez’s fight, but Alvarez would have never won unless he won by KO, just like Maidana and just like Bradley. Boxing loses fans because of the corruption and we have seen it on display quite often lately.
