Scott Quigg Stops Stephane Jamoye in 3 – Boxing News

WBA super bantamweight champion Scott Quigg (29-0-2, 22 KOs) scored a third round TKO over Stephane Jamoye (26-6, 16 KOs) at the Phones 4U Arena in Manchester, England. Quigg, a 20:1 favorite, ended matters with a body shot. Jamoye beat the count, but the bout was waved off at 1:13 by referee Terry O’Connor. Quigg made his fourth defense of the WBA belt, while Jamoye has now lost three of his last four. Quigg has a mandatory due against Chris Avalos, but is looking to take on IBF champion Carl Frampton instead.

Olympic super heavyweight gold medalist Anthony Joshua (8-0, 8 KOs) continued to impress with a third round TKO over veteran Konstantin Airich (21-10-2, 17 KOs). Joshua dropped Airich in round three and got the stoppage with his follow up barrage. Time was 1:16.

A fight between lightweights Anthony Crolla (28-4-1, 11 KOs) and former world champion Gamaliel Diaz (38-11-3, 17 KOs) ended in a third round technical draw after an accidental headbutt left Diaz with a cut over the right eye. It looked to be shaping to be a good scrap before the bout was waved off at the end of round three.

Welterweight Sam Eggington (12-2, 5 KOs) scored an eighth round TKO over Denton Vassell (20-2, 10 KOs) in a good action fight. Eggington got a referee’s stoppage after a barrage of shots. Time was 2:36. The bout was a British title eliminator.

Lightweight Scott Cardle (16-0, 4 KOs) needed just 46 seconds to demolish Kirk Goodings (11-2, 3 KOs). Cardle claimed the English title and earned a shot at the British belt.
