End of the Road for Former Heavyweight Contender “Mount” Lance Whitaker

Promoter Craig Zimmerman’s MEZ Sports once again delivered an exciting night of boxing Saturday night. This time MEZ Sports brought its Pandemonium fight series to the Riverside Convention Center, for the first fight card ever in the city of Riverside, California. More impressive was the fact that Zimmerman was able to put together a legitimate main event on extremely short notice. In the main Franklin “Yah-Yah” Lawrence (13-2-2, 8 KOs) of Indiana brutally knocked out “Mount” Lance Whitaker (35-7-2, 28 KOs) of Southern California at 2:59 of round 7 to win the IBO Intercontinental Heavyweight Title. Whitaker was rushed to the emergency room as a precaution after fight but is now reported to be ok. In the co-feature hometown flyweight fighter Anthony Villareal (10-3, 5KO’s) of Riverside stopped veteran Benjamin Garcia in round round.
