York Hall Boxing Card “Capitol Punishment”: October 25th – Boxing News

By Peter Silkov

This Saturday (October 25) will see another lively boxing show at the legendary York Hall boxing venue, in London’s Bethnal Green. While bigger venues such as Wembley, and The O2 Arena tend to get the biggest headline fights and have a higher profile within the media, The York Hall remains a venue of huge importance in boxing and provokes great affection amongst many boxing fans.

On Saturday The York Hall will be the site of the ‘Capital Punishment’ show, promoted by Dave Murphy, Acourtier Events Promotions. Six of the boxers on the bill hail from Canning Towns Trad Tko Gym, on a night that will showcase some of the gyms most promising talent.

Turkish born brothers Onder and Siar Ozgul, will be looking to extend their unbeaten records. Light-Middleweight, Siar, the youngest brother, will have his 5th professional outing against the very experienced Matt Scriven 14-84-1 of Nottingham. Onder meanwhile, a light-heavyweight, will face Karel Horejsek. Both Ozgul brothers have proved to be popular with the crowds, due to their all action fighting styles. The Ozgul brothers are both trained by Mo Hussein, ex Commonwealth Lightweight champion, and a well known fan favourite himself during his fighting days.

Also on the bill, lightweight Antonion Counihan has his first six rounder, against Lithuanian Simas Volosinas.

Cruiserweight Jerome Haywood will be making his professional debut against Rolandas Cesna.

Cruiserweight Michael Sweeney 12-3-1 and Welterweight Joel Ani 5-15-2, both meet opponents to be announced.

Manny Muhammad will be looking to get to 3-0, after two wins so far in his pro career, which have already seen him break into the top half of the world rankings.

Lightweight Mark Alexander 10-6 faces Tadas Stulginskas 2-3 and at Middleweight unbeaten Nathan Decastro will take on Deividas Sajauka 4-5.

Top of the bill will be Britain’s number one ranked female super-bantamweight, Marianne ‘Golden Girl’ Marston, who takes on Hungarian Marianna Gulyas, for the MBC International Super-Bantamweight championship. The fight is a doubly important one for Marianne as a victory could seal herself a shot at WIBA world Super-Bantamweight champion Shannon O’Connell, who has indicated her interest in coming to London to defend her title against Marston in early 2015. However such plans will be derailed if Marianne loses to Gulyas on Saturday.

Tickets are still available for the night of boxing this Saturday, £35.00 for standard seating, and £60.00 ringside. Tickets are available from the Trad TKO Gym on 07960-850645 or via the web on www.tkoboxoffice.com
