Scotty Olson COMES OUT OF COMA – Breaking News Update

SOBy Lou Eisen

CTV news out of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada reported on Thursday, January 22nd at 10:00 pm Eastern standard time that former Canadian boxer and flyweight world champion, Scotty “The Buldog” Olson is out of his medically-induced coma and is actually up and walking around his room. Olson suffered what was described as a major heart attack this past Sunday at his home in Edmonton.

Olson, who is one of Canada’s most adored athletes, was rushed by ambulance to a hospital where a team of cardiologists subsequently placed him in a medically induced coma to relieve the tension on his heart. It had been reported at that time that he was on life support but RSR is still unable to confirm that part of the story.

The initial reports out of Edmonton made it seem as if Olson was literally at death’s door. However, those of us in the Canadian and world boxing community that have enjoyed both the pleasure and privilege of knowing Olson over the years were hopeful and very confident that the always upbeat Olson would never leave this earth without putting up a whale of a fight first. Fellow Canadian flyweight and legendary Canadian Olympian Ian “Shotgun” Clyde spoke of Olson’s iron will to live. “I simply don’t believe that this is Scotty’s time to go yet. He is well-loved and admired by all who know him and care about him. Scotty still has so much to accomplish such as raise his beautiful family. It is not his time to go down for the count for good.”

Cardiologists have still not released what they believe to have caused Olson’s heart attack, and why it struck him at the relatively young age of 46. Olson is still in fighting shape, exercises often, doesn’t smoke or do drugs and occasionally enjoys a beer with his friends. Olson is a very popular after dinner corporate speaker all across Canada. Ringside Report will continue to update Mr. Olson’s condition as more news becomes available.
