Frank Sinatra – A True “Brother In Boxing”
Mike Tyson was in Atlantic City training for Larry Holmes when he met the “Chairman of the Board”, Frank Sinatra who was performing at Steve Wynn’s Golden Nugget. A Sinatra party took place at the Nugget and Mike was invited. Sinatra loved boxers and boxing. Ol’ Blue Eyes briefly was a boxing promoter in the late 40’s. He promoted the Walcott vs Maxim card in Los Angeles in 1947. Later on he managed Cisco Andrade.
Perhaps his most important role in boxing was organizing a Joe Louis Celebration at Caesars Palace in 1980. The who’s who of the entertainment world came to the event.
