Al Bernstein Back on UK Television – Boxing News

s2Hall of fame Boxing Announcer Al Bernstein will return to British television on Saturday, February 21, when he serves as ringside analyst on the Channel 5 telecast of the middleweight title match between Gennady Golovkin and Martin Murray. Channel 5 is seen throughout the United Kingdom and Bernstein has been serving as a boxing analyst on that network since 2011.

“Martin Murray has a nearly been a champ twice, losing a close decision to Sergio Martinez and suffering a controversial draw at the hands of Felix Sturm and now he faces perhaps his toughest challenge in Gennady Golovkin,” Bernstein said. He added, “Golovkin is one of the hardest punchers in all of boxing and a rising superstar, but Murray is a very solid technician in the ring and I believe he will give Gennady a tough go. I am so happy to be ringside for this match.” This 160 pound title match comes almost 30 years after Bernstein announced perhaps the greatest middleweight title fight in history, Marvin Hagler’s win over Tommy Hearns in April of 1985.
