Tulsa Celebrity Fight Night to Host Inaugural Black Tie Gala to Benefit Make-A-Wish Oklahoma

Press ReleaseTulsa Celebrity Fight Night will host their inaugural black tie gala on April 23rd, with all proceeds being donated to help grant wishes for Oklahoma children with life-threatening medical conditions through the Oklahoma Make-A-Wish.

The event will be held at the Event Center at River Spirit Casino, and promises to be one of the nation’s premiere charity events, welcoming some of the greatest boxing world champions, as well as notable Hollywood movie stars, sports figures and entertainers. The Black Tie Gala will feature a fun-filled night of cocktails, a silent auction, and dinner. There will also be a live auction, along with an introduction of all the celebrities that are lending their time to make this an unforgettable night for all attendees. The night will finish with four professional boxing matches, as well as two MMA (mixed martial arts) matches.

Al Bernstein will be emceeing the event. Bernstein is an American sportscaster, writer, stage performer, recording artist and speaker. He began his career as a journalist for Lerner Newspapers in the 1970s, and wrote Boxing for Beginners, an instruction and historical book on boxing, in 1978, as well as contributing to Boxing Illustrated and The Ring. In the years since, he has served as a boxing analyst on ESPN, Showtime, and for the 1992 and 1996 Summer Olympic Games, as well as a reporter for SportsCenter. Bernstein won the Sam Taub Award for excellence in boxing broadcasting journalism in 1988. In 2012, Bernstein released 30 Years, 30 Undeniable Truths about Boxing, Sports and TV, and was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

In addition to Al Bernstein, celebrity attendees will include Earnie Shavers, “Merciless” Ray Mercer, Lamon Brewster, Leon Spinks, Gerry Cooney, Riddick Bowe, Buddy Mcgirt and James Quick Tillis. Hall of Famer Michael Buffer will serve as the main event ring announcer.

Dale “Apollo” Cook, a former professional kickboxer is a two-time PKA World middleweight Champion, WSBA World Champion, and two-time WKA World Champion, is serving as the fight promoter. Cook is also a Hollywood Actor who serves as CEO of Apollos’s Martial Arts in Tulsa.
