On May 2nd the undefeated welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather, JR., 47-0, 26 KO’s, will meet up with the WBO Welterweight Champion Manny Pacquiao , 57-5-2, 38 KOs live from the MGM Grand Las Vegas on Showtime and HBO Pay Per View. The number one p4p in the sport is guaranteed his biggest pay day to date at $120 million, while Pacquiao will receive $80 million. This is the first time since 2002, when Mike Tyson met Lennox Lewis in the ring, that HBO and Showtime will broadcast a live Pay Per View show together. This fight has been more than 5 years in the making and I truly believe it will absolutely live up to the hype.

On fight night Mayweather, JR. will step into the ring at 38 years of age and Pacquiao will be 36, but both fighters are still very much on top of the boxing world. Due to disagreements with drug testing and purse spilt, the fans had to wait for these two to meet face to face. On May 2nd the world will get to witness “The Fight of This Century”. This is a fight that was still very much in demand. It has the potential to break all pay per view revenue. It will cost anywhere from $90-$100 to watch this historic match and tickets range from $1500-$7500.

Mayweather,JR. turned pro in October of 1996, and he is a five division world champion. He has notable wins over Diego Corrales, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Shane Mosley, Miguel Cotto, Juan Manuel Marquez and Canelo Alvarez. He and Pacquiao, an eight division world champion, share some of the same opponents. Pacquiao has beaten Shane Mosley, Ricky Hatton, Miguel Cotto, Marquez and Oscar De La Hoya. What we will have when these two meet in the ring is a student of the sweet science in Floyd Mayweather, JR. Vs a great offensive fighter in Manny Pacquiao. Mayweather, JR. has mastered the true meaning of what boxing ultimately means, to hit and not be hit. He has perfected a defense that makes it virtually impossible to hit him clean. He has faced and defeated everyone that according to the boxing world was supposed to beat him, but everytime he steps out of that ring I’m always left with the feeling that he’s not done he has so much more to offer us. Manny Pacquiao is a tough, hard hitting southpaw with flurried speed that throws his punches in bunches from all angles. This makes for a must see match up. For the first 3 rounds Floyd will take his time and slowly but surely be mounting his offense, by the fourth round I have him beginning to pick his spots and landing his punches. Pacquiao will show up in shape to show out, but boxing is about levels and Mayweather, JR. has proven throughout his career to be on another level. After 12 rounds of action I have him winning a very clear cut decisive decision once again proving to the world why his “skills have consistently paid the bills.”

This is a fight that we have wanted, have waited patiently for and will now have the opportunity to watch and enjoy. A fight of this magnitude will live up to the hype and then some. Fans from all walks of life, casual and die hard ones, will be tuned in. Five years ago or at this very moment, this is one the world had to have and I am on the edge of my seat waiting for this night to come.
