Kell Brook – Jo Jo Dan: Ready for WAR

Kell BrookBy Travis Fleming

This Saturday afternoon, IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook makes his first title defense against Canadian/Romanian Jo Jo Dan in Kell’s hometown of Sheffield, England. Dan is a rough customer, and a good fighter, but he’s not in the same class as Brook. Dan is actually Brook’s mandatory challenger so we can forgive Brook for the mismatch. Brook was kept protected in England for too long, but he’s an extremely talented fighter and finally took a risk in travelling to California to face, then champion, Shawn Porter last year. Brook showed he was a class above and deserved to be ranked among the top 5 fighters in boxing’s most talent rich division. Dan has beaten a couple of good Canadian fighters, but lost twice to Selcuk Aydin, who proved to be a limited fighter when he faced world class opposition. Expect Brook to easily outclass, and possibly stop, the rugged Dan. Dan was dropped by Aydin and Brook has comparable power to Aydin with much quicker, and more accurate, hands.
