Terence Crawford Vs Thomas Dulorme – Showcasing Boxing’s Best Young Champion

Breidis Prescott, Terence CrawfordBy Travis Fleming

Tonight on HBO, rising pound for pound talent, and last years fighter of the year, Terrence Crawford, 25-0-0 17 KO’s, squares off against the skilled Puerto Rican Thomas Dulorme, 22-1-0 14 KO’s. Crawford is moving up for his first bout at the junior welterweight limit and he’s attempting to become a two division champion by beating Dulorme for the vacant WBO junior welterweight title in his debut at 140 lbs.

Last year, the undefeated Crawford dominated the lightweight division by snatching his title from Ricky Burns, defending it by knocking out highly rated Yuriorkis Gamboa, and capping it off by easily outpointing the tough as nails veteran Fernando Beltran. By the end of the year, he established himself as the best young talent in the sport, and a man with enough ability to rise to the top of the pound for pound list.

Dulorme is a skilled operator who has never quite lived up to his potential. He suffered his first and only defeat in an upset TKO by the hands of Luis Carlos Abregu back in 2012. He bounced back last year with a clear points win over Karim Mayfield and a controversial split decision win over Henry Lundy but failed to restore the hype that initially surrounded him as a prospect.
Dulorme is the biggest man Crawford has faced but that’s where his advantages end. Crawford does everything Dulorme does at a higher level and his cerebral style of fighting is right up there with the likes of Floyd Mayweather Jr, Guillermo Rigondeaux and Andre Ward. I can see no other outcome but a Crawford win, likely by wide decision, but don’t be surprised if he befuddles

Dulorme enough to score a stoppage in his debut at 140 lbs. At the end of the night, Crawford will be crowned a champion in his second weight division and he’ll be on his way to dominating the division in a short amount of time, as he did at lightweight. Expect Crawford to unify the division, becoming king by no later than mid 2016 before moving up to become a three division champion at welterweight and establishing himself one of the top three pound for pound fighters in the sport.

Official Prediction: Crawford by wide unanimous decision.
