Jon Jones Hit and Run SHOCKER – Timeline REVEALED

April 26th, 9:03pm – News breaks that the Albuquerque Police Department seek Jon Jones for questioning in relation to a hit and run incident. Albuquerque Police Department (APD) report that on Sunday morning woman’s car was struck, with the offender fleeing the scene.

April 26th, 11:15pm – Jon Jones is officially named as the suspect in the hit-and-run incident. In a press release the APD confirm that the victim is a 20 year old pregnant woman.

April 26th, 11:30pm – The UFC release a statement: “We are aware that the Albuquerque Police Department are interested in speaking to Jon Jones regarding his possible involvement in a motor vehicle accident. We are in the process of gathering facts and will reserve further comment until more information is available.”

April 27th, 12:15pm – Jon Jones is identified by an off-duty police officer as the man running from the scene. He’s alleged to have gone back to the car briefly to grab “a large handful of cash” before making his escape. A police report also states that inside the car there was a marijuana pipe with marijuana inside and “paperwork belonging to a Jonathan Jones, which had MMA information on it from the state of Nevada.”

April 27th, 4:51pm – Contrary to prior reports of minor injuries to the victim, it turns out that she in fact suffered a broken arm, meaning that the potential charges against Jones are advanced from a misdemeanour to a felony.

April 27th, 6:51pm – The Albuquerque Police Department issue a warrant for the arrest of Jon Jones and say that arrangements are in place for him to turn himself in.

April 27th, 9:18pm – Jones turns himself in to police custody.

April 28th, 12:32am – Jones posts $2,500 bail and is released from jail.

April 28th, 3:03pm – An APD spokesperson says that Jones is being charged with: “Leaving the scene of an accident involving death or personal injury”. But that he would, at this time, not face drug possession charges.

April 28th, 4:45pm – The light heavyweight champion appears at San Bernalillo (N.M) county court. He is released on continued bond with no travel restrictions, meaning he could still face Anthony Johnson in the main event at UFC 187.

April 28th, 5:31pm – UFC president, Dana White and CEO, Lorenzo Fertitta fly out to Albuquerque to meet with Jon Jones.

April 28th, 11:10pm – The UFC strip Jon Jones of his belt. Daniel Cormier takes his place at UFC 187 to fight for the light-heavyweight championship against Anthony Johnson.

April 28th, 11:20pm – Jones makes his first tweet since the story broke: “Got a lot of soul searching to do. Sorry to everyone I’ve let down”.

April 29th, 10:18am – Reebok announce that they have terminated their contract with Jon Jones, effective immediately.

April 29th, 1:48pm – Jones is removed from the UFC rankings. In addition to losing his belt he is no longer the pound for pound champion.
