WBC Featherweight Champion Gary Russell, JR. Honored – Boxing News

This past Saturday a sizable group of fans came to the District Heights Municipal Center in District Heights, MD to honor the new WBC Featherweight Champion “Mr.” Gary Russell, Jr. during a festive outdoor ceremony. Fans were able to get autographs and pose for pictures with the new champion who won his title in March with a fourth-round TKO over Jhonny Gonzalez.

Representatives from both the governments of District Heights and nearby Capitol Heights, MD (where Russell grew up) presented proclamations and Russell also received a congratulatory letter from Mauricio Sulaiman, the president of the World Boxing Council.

Russell told reporters in attendance that he may be back in action sometime in July.
