WWE Breaking NEWS: Bray Wyatt’s Appearance at Money in the Bank Sets Stage for Doomed Feud with Roman Reigns

BrayBy Nick “Red” Conley

I recently wrote an article regarding WWE superstar Bray Wyatt’s absence from recent pay-per-views, Monday Night Raws, and Smackdowns, possibly due to WWE Creative’s inability to come up with a workable story for the self-proclaimed “Eater of the Worlds.” However, that changed when during the June 14 Money in the Bank briefcase ladder match, Bray Wyatt appeared and the audience went ballistic. Toward the end of the match, Roman Reigns was by himself in the ring and climbing the ladder to grab the briefcase when the lights went out and Bray Wyatt’s entrance promo played on the big screen. When the lights came back on, Wyatt was standing in the middle of the ring and pushed the ladder over, knocking Roman Reigns down and out of the ring. Sheamus would later go on and win the briefcase, setting himself up for a shot to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship belt. It has already been announced that Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns will face one another at Battleground on July 19, setting the stage for at least a month-long feud between the two.

In my previous article on Ringside Report, I argued that WWE Creative has repeatedly flopped Bray Wyatt’s character, despite their intentions of building him up. This is all unfortunate because Wyatt is arguably the most talented superstar on the roster, if not the most talented. I am going to argue that WWE Creative’s decision to have a feud between Reigns and Wyatt is going to represent the continued flubbing of Bray Wyatt’s character. I am not so sure that Roman Reigns is the type of opponent for Bray Wyatt right now, who I honestly believe Creative is trying to build up. WWE Creative is most likely going to want Reigns to come out on top and looking stronger than before, so he is most likely to win and continue moving forward for eventual contention for the World Heavyweight Championship belt. So Reigns is likely to come out looking stronger at the expense of Bray Wyatt. A few weeks back Roman Reigns already beat Bray Wyatt in order to look strong, probably in time for the most recent Money in the Bank ladder match.

It is reasonable to argue that Wyatt’s character never fully recovered or regained momentum following his loss to John Cena at WrestleMania 30 and then Payback. His bookings on Monday Night Raws, Smackdowns, and pay-per-views since have been sporadic, inconsistent, and lack depth. Again, this is incredibly unfortunate given Wyatt’s talent. I am willing to buy the argument that WWE Creative is attempting to build Wyatt’s character for superstardom in the long run, but this feud with Reigns is going to represent yet another setback to a superstar that cannot afford another lose right now. I could be wrong and maybe both Reigns and Wyatt will come out looking stronger than before, but I highly doubt it. I mean Roman Reigns is WWE Creative’s favorite.
