Oscar De La Hoya May Be Coming Back in the Ring

Delta-ringsidereport.com1Comebacks in sports are not a new thing – many ex pros come back every once in a while, especially in boxing and MMA, mostly for the fame and the chance to win back some cash. This doesn’t seem to be the case with six-weight world champion Oscar De La Hoya who has been retired for six whole years and is now considering a comeback.

De La Hoya talked to ESPN representatives that he has never felt better in his life and that he is in such a great shape that he can pretty much take on anybody, even his former nemesis Floyd Mayweather. You can read up on most of De La Hoya’s fight history and also look for more news at South African gaming sites.

While De La Hoya has been a bit delusional over the years over the fact that he can win against almost any opponent, his winning streak in the last couple of years prior to his retirement has not been very good (3-4). However, he chooses not to acknowledge that and instead focus on what is up ahead. He said, “I feel amazing. In my life right now, I have so much motivation. I am young, I am healthy and I feel great – 42 is the new 32.” He also added that he gets a ton of positive feedback from his fans that are cheering him on and believe that he can actually take Mayweather in a rematch.

In regards to the comeback itself, Oscar is clear that this isn’t about the financial gain. After all, his promotional company Golden Boy has been steadily growing and he has dedicated his full on Delta-ringsidereport.com2attention to its development ever since his retirement. “I don’t have to come back for financial reasons or the lights or the glamour. The only reason I would come back is because I miss the competition of fighting the very best.

Just a reminder, the last match that saw De La Hoya in the ring was that against the Philippine legend Manny Pacquiao in December 2008, when he lost the fight in a rather, one sided way. Considering the fact that Mayweather defeated Pacquiao last year in one of the biggest matches in boxing history, it can be a bit farfetched to assume that De La Hoya can just show up and defeat the champion.

When it is all said and done however, De La Hoya is still not 100% that he will return presently. There is talk about it, sure, but if he were to return then it would be against his old adversary Gennady Golovkin who is dominating the WBA and IBO middleweight class.
