Kindred’s Corner: Boxing News, Rumors, and Rumblings, Floyd Mayweather, JR Vs Manny Pacquiao Rematch in the Works? Sergey Kovalev’s Future Opponent Being Kicked Around & More – Breaking Boxing News

So there is good news and bad news in the world of boxing. We will start with some of the good. There are rumblings that there will be an all-Russian super fight Thanksgiving weekend with Sergey Kovalev taking on rising contender Artur Beterbiev. It isn’t “official” as of yet, but Kovalev’s team is looking at putting this event together.

Golden Boy Promotions is leaving Fox Sports One and Fox Deportes to move its boxing broadcasts to Estrella TV, whether this is good, bad, or neutral, remains to be seen. For me it’s bad, I don’t have Estrella TV.

PBC on CBS has reported an increase in viewership, so that is good I figure. While Al Haymon isn’t always putting on super fights, at least he is offering up Mares vs. Santa Cruz. With that said, he is also giving us Stevenson Vs Karpency. While Karpency did record a controversial win over former champion (who has seen better days) Chad Dawson, he isn’t among the top 20 in the world, and for a lineal world champion to defend against an unranked opponent, it is simply a mockery of lineal crown.

Welterweight world champion Floyd Mayweather, JR. has still not officially announced his opponent with less than 7 weeks until fight time. Rumors are saying that this is due to contract disputes between Mayweather and CBS/Showtime executives. The executives are apparently trying to lock Mayweather, JR. in for future fights if he decides to return after this “supposed” final fight. They don’t want Mayweather, JR. to play the bidding game between HBO and SHO for a proposed rematch with him and Manny Pacquiao.
