Tyson Fury Shocks the Boxing World with Win Over Wladimir Klitschko: Oh Please Help Us Now!

Tyson FuryBy Luca “MamaLuke” Balossino (At Ringside)

This weekend I had the opportunity to attend the Wladimir Klitschko Vs Tyson Fury fight with with my lovely pregnant wife in Dusseldorf, Germany. From Amsterdam it was only 2.5 hours by car, so it was very tempting for me to be there. However, I wasn’t too keen on attending the event because since 2002, I just despise the heavyweight division, which was for many years my favorite division in boxing!

Luckily with today´s technology I can still watch those good old fights in the Heavyweight division with such fights as, Morrison vs Ruddock, Bowe vs Holyfield, Tyson going to distance for the first time against James “Quick” Tillis or Larry Holmes vs Carl “The Truth” Williams… The list goes on, and never ends!
Let me be more specific with my statement of despising the Heavyweight Division, but before I do I want to give all the credit in the world to Wladimir Klitschko for reigning as the true Heavyweight Champion for the last decade, and to Tyson Fury for winning fair and square to the man who was the King for the last 10 years.

Now… The Heavyweight Champion for me was something like being Superman, a role model or someone you look up to him and is almost invincible. Wladimir’s style was and is boring as hell, looks robotic and clumsy at times. However, what made him champion for the last 10 years was that he did have the power to put you to sleep against opponents of an ERA that didn´t bring “the best breed” of boxers.

On the other hand you have this young Brit, insanely tall with a flabby looking body who could seriously have a good future singing at the Karaoke’s around the world. I don’t want to take credit away from him, but if I could have a Delorean as a time machine today and give Fury a ride to the 70’s, 80´s and 90´s I just don’t see him surviving any of the contenders from those 3 Eras’s.

I saw lots of brits yelling Fury Fury Fury, at the Dusseldorf Arena, because probably since Lewis, Tyson Fury is their British hope. I had a few English fellas behind me talking about Herbie Hide, Lennox Lewis and Gary Mason while Fury was fighting Wladimir, not a good sign of what is about to come. Luckily for me I had a good taste of German beer before, during and after the bout, to as my Publisher “Bad” Brad Berkwitt always says, “Fuggedaboutit” that I was watching in pain the heavyweights of today (and the past 15 years).

Tyson Fury did his job and very well against an old age Wladimir, nobody can take that away from him. However, Klitschko was boring as shit and I cannot imagine an exciting or memorable Era of Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder or whoever else is a contender today.
