What are you people, Sadists!

Sixty Five times did the former eight division world champion Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao step in the squared circle and waged bitter battle. He fought several of the Mexican greats, Morales, Barrera, Marquez and many more than once, and the best fighters from fly weight to Junior middle and that’s not enough?

He’s knocked out folks, been knocked out and with utter class and humility, with sheer brutal tenacity, he shed blood and guts all over the pugilistic canvas, painting for us a warriors portrait of hard work, dedication and heart, and that’s not adequate?

Manny Pacquiao has announced his next fight against, once again, World Boxing Organization champion, Timothy “Desert Storm” Bradley, in what will be their third meeting on April 9th 2016 and having observed the crowd reaction on various social networks, “the fans” aren’t too happy about it.

Something I find completely ludicrous!

There has been wild speculation, to whom Pacquiao may face next, including names such as Bob Arum’s new poster boy, WBO junior welterweight titlist Terence Crawford, who Bob Arum would love to catapult past prime opposition and straight to a marquee fight with a living legend, as well as former champion Amir Khan, Jr welter titlist Adrien “The Problem” Broner and of course Bradley, who was ultimately chosen.

Pacquiao didn’t take the Crawford bait, a shameless attempt by Arum to use an old champion to build a new one and the Broner fight didn’t pan out, perhaps because Broner is attached to arch rival, the secretive overlord of his boxing universe, Al Haymon and Amir Khan, who was unsuccessful getting Mayweather, JR. into a ring for the last couple years, also fell through with Pacquiao.

Pacquiao and his folks decided to venture into the desert storms once again, and fans aren’t so happy about it.

What do you know, Floyd “Money” Mayweather, JR. was right.

You fight your heart out, you put your life on the line, time and time again, just so some laymen with a thirst for blood can request your head on a platter once again.

What does The Pacman have to do to make people happy? He’s given us classic wars and finally got to do the chase the Mayweather, JR. around the ring game for twelve rounds and according to Pacquiao and his doctors, he did so with one arm! Give them man a break already!

I don’t even think that he should fight again after the Mayweather, JR. “fight”, having earned somewhere around 150 million dollars and came out completely unscathed, let alone fight anyone dangerous. To me at least, Pacquiao has been retired since last May, and he has nothing left to prove to anyone. If I was his advisor, I would be suggesting a nice retirement, a chance to enjoy family and the fruits of his labor, not to go off and have his brains beat in some more, but Pacquiao, typically wants to go on. For at least one last time, or so we think. Bradley is still a tougher choice than Mayweather, JR.’s choice of Berto, for his farewell bout, and that’s not knocking Mayweather, JR., it’s just the truth. Bradley has been one of the best welterweights around for many years, only has one loss, to Pacquiao, and one draw to welterweight contender Diego Chavez and though at the end of his career, still has enough persistence and relentlessness in the tank to give anyone hell and the truth is, he deserved a Mayweather, JR. fight before anyone else got a chance to fight him, especially Berto!

Pacquiao deserves one last tribute fight, against an easy opponent in front of his staunchest fans and yet he chose a very difficult man to conquer and that seems to draw the ire of so called boxing fans.

Mayweathers’ philosophy of self first over the wants and needs of other couldn’t be more glaringly justified after Pacquiao’s announcement. They won’t be happy until Pacquiao is reduced to something we can’t recognize.

Well, tough luck you sadists, I’ll be tuning in to bid the great Manny Pacquiao, the only champion of eight divisions in boxing, who thrilled me for many years with classic wars, shocking losses and epic comebacks, and I will be more than entertained to bid him farewell.
