Dmitry “Grandmaster” Pirog is the man to stand in the way to stardom of Daniel “Miracle Man” Jacobs. Pirog is a chance for both a revenge and next level for the Brooklyner. Given that the both
fighters expressed desire to fight, Al Haymon remains to be the only barrier here. That is why the Russian fighter is in hesitation on his return, as, seemingly, Jacobs`camp is not for the bout. Only worthy opponents would get Pirog back to the sport, and Jacobs is the most plausible option.

The first thing that should come to mind for Jacobs is, certainly, a revenge question. To remind, Pirog was the first and last man to defeat Jacobs, which he did in outclassing fashion ended by KO. At the time, many cherished hopes for Jacobs to be the next big thing. But the Russian literally destroyed them. This alone should be a sufficient motivation for Jacobs not just to be not against but to chase Pirog. Recently, the Brooklyn pride himself expressed a desire for a rematch. How can a fighter of Jacobs`s caliber avoid a chance to avenge himself, when the time is on his side? It is a fact that it is a favorable time for the Brooklyner to take the bout.

Pirog has been absent sufficiently long, due to a spine injury. That has to go to Jacobs`s advantage, because he has gained since their last meeting. He is a fresh WBA regular champion. Given the Russian`s inactivity and Jacobs`s rise, it is a healthy pragmatism for Jacobs not to dodge a fight at the best time possible given.

No other alternatives are there other than this for both fighters. For both of them it is supposed to be hard but rewarding fight. For “Miracle Man” it is exoneration in case he wins, while for Pirog it is return back to the top game immediately, in addition to WBA regular title, in case if he wins. Neither Billy Joe Saunders nor Gennady Golovkin and, certainly, not Canelo Alvarez fights are going to happen with Jacobs, as we see. While, no other bouts would provide Pirog with that status, if he beats Jacobs. The closest alternative could be Matt Korobov for Pirog, which could gather people on the Russian territory, but abroad.

The boxing fans must be eager for this rematch. This is a bout that true fans would want to see. And again, only thing that restrains “Grandmaster” from returning to the business, is a problem with finding a worthy opponent. The Russian is of those guys, who prefers taking over to taking part. There must be the one to get him back, and Jacobs is the best option out there. As much as Jacobs is Pirog`s doors back to the top game, same way Pirog is that ultimate gate for Jacobs to the next level. Sooner or later, “Miracle Man” will have to fight Golovkin. But he can`t work himself up to “GGG” by beating likes of Quillin. It must be guys like Pirog. If Jacobs does not beat Pirog`s caliber fighter, he can forget about stardom.

The Brooklyner has a chance to kill two birds, by revenging and beating one of the pillars of the middleweights, in face of Dmitry Pirog. Fans, in their turn, should cheer for their bout to happen. It would, arguably, be a decoration of this year. The Russian is ambitious, so if he is willing to return, it would, certainly, be not for a promenade. If Pirog wins again against Jacobs, we will, most likely, be able to see a dream fight between him and Golovkin eventually, a business that they left unfinished back in 2012. Not once Piro claimed that Golovkin was that only man to get him back. So…what shall we do with Al Haymon?
