Patriots Outclass the Chiefs 27-20 – NFL News

patsBy Dave “Mythical” Siderski

This one appeared to have upset written all over it. The Patriots lost 4 of their final 6 regular season games and faced serious questions about its porous offensive line, along with the health of Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski. Conversely, the red hot Chiefs were riding an 11 game winning streak. So, what happened? Tom Brady led the Patriots on a brilliant 80 yard touchdown drive to open the game; New England’s offensive line didn’t allow a sack; Gronk and Edelman combined for 17 catches, 183 yards and 2 touchdowns; Brady completed 28 of 42 passes for 302 yards; And the Pats defense did its part, holding Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith to a paltry 4.9 yards per pass attempt.

In spite of the relative closeness of the final score, this game was truly never in doubt. The only complaint if you’re a Patriots fan is that New England had numerous opportunities to put this game out of reach in the 3rd and 4th quarter and failed to capitalize. That said, it was still an impressive performance by the Patriots. The NFL’s “Evil Empire” lives to play on for another week!
