Broncos EEK Out Close Win Against the Patriots 20 -18

DBBy Dave “Mythical” Siderski (Under Protest!)

In the end, Brady-Manning XVII wasn’t about either quarterback. It was about the Denver Broncos defense which made the Patriots offensive line look utterly pitiful and effectively kept Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman in check. Given New England’s offensive ineptitude, this game easily could have gotten out of hand were it not for the outstanding play of the Patriots defense. After giving up 17 first half points, New England’s defense completely shut down Manning and the Broncos offense in the second half, holding them to less than 250 yards of total offense for the game. The problem was the Patriots offense could not capitalize on the numerous opportunities it was provided to get back in the game. Tom Brady led a desperation drive in the game’s waning moments, finding Gronkowski for a 4 yard touchdown to narrow the lead to 20-18. However, Bradley Roby intercepted Brady on a 2 point conversion attempt to put an end to New England’s chances.

Denver moves on to the Super Bowl where they will face the winner of tonight’s Panthers-Cardinals game.
