Antonio Orozco Back in Action Friday Night – Boxing News

Undefeated Golden Boy Prospect Antonio “Relentless” Orozco is making his 2016 debut this Friday March 25th at Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio California. Orozco, 23-0, 15 KO’s last fought in October of 2015 when he defeated former three-division world champion Humberto “La Zorrita” Soto on the undercard of Lucas Matthysse / Viktor Postol matchup at the Stubhub Center in Carson California. That victory elevated Orozco to the top 10 of the 140lb division by the WBC, WBO, WBA and IBF it also landed him on the pound-for-pound lists of ESPN, Sports Illustrated, The Ring Magazine and USA Today. Due to many of the top fighters in the division in talks for upcoming bouts Antonio will be taking on former WBA Super Lightweight World Champion Miguel “Aguacerito” Acosta 29-8-2, 23 KO’s, With hopes of fighting for a World Title by the end of 2016. “Antonio Orozco had a fantastic year in the ring in 2015, defeating veteran Humberto ‘La Zorrita’ Soto and top contender Emmanuel Taylor,” said Oscar De La Hoya, chairman and CEO of Golden Boy Promotions. “We have high hopes for Antonio in 2016 and believe he is on a path to fight for a world title soon. His next fight against Miguel Acosta on March 25 will get him one step closer to that goal”.

Since my fight with Humberto Soto I have been excited to get into the ring and show the fans a great night of boxing. “I know this is my opportunity to show I am ready for the world title shot in 2016 and I promise I will not disappoint. I have been training to make sure I am victorious. “We know that Acosta is a former champion and is going to come prepared. At this point of my career every opponent has to be taken seriously and we know he will be dangerous. Our job is to make sure we are more prepared and more dangerous” said Orozco at his recent media work out at House of Boxing in San Diego.

PicsArt_03-21-07.16.52_wmIn the televised co-main event, freshly signed Golden Boy Promotions fighter Andrew “El Chango” Cancio, 16-3-2, 12 KO’s of Blythe, Calif. will fight in a 10-round featherweight fight against newly announced opponent former two divisions world champion Hugo “El Incredible” Cazares 40-8-2, 27 KO’s of Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico.Hugo “El Incredible” Cazares is returning to the ring on March 25 after taking nearly two years off following a knockout defeat at the hands of Carl Frampton. Cazares has claimed several championship titles since making his debut in July 1997 and has fought 40 bouts since then. In January 2013, Cazares claimed the WBC International Silver Super Bantamweight Championship title after securing a win over Rey Perez. He successfully defended his title twice, against Gabriel Altarejos and Julio Cesar Miranda, respectively. Years prior, Cazares also claimed and defended the WBO and NABO Light Flyweight Title, WBO World Light Flyweight Title, and the WBA World Super Flyweight Title.

Part of the non-televised card but streaming live on Ring TV, is Irish knockout artist Jason “El Animal” Quigley, 9-0, 8 KO’s who makes his return to the ring for an eight-round middleweight bout against Cleveland, Ohio’s Dante “The Phenom” Moore 9-1-2, 4 KO’s. Also featured as part of the Ring TV live stream, St. Louis, Missouri’s undefeated welterweight KeAndre “The Truth” Gibson, 14-0-1, 6 KO’s will fight in an eight-round welterweight bout against Chaquib Fadli, 13-6, 7 KO’s of Miami, Florida. Emilio Sanchez, 11-0, 8 KO’s of Pacoima, California will participate in an eight-round featherweight bout against an opponent to be named soon and, Indio, Calif.’s Marco Magdaleno 2-0, 1 KO’s will be engaged in a four-round super lightweight event against an opponent yet to be named. Opening up the night will be Jon Jon Dinong 1-0, 1 KO of Los Angeles taking on Jared Teer, 2-5 of Olympia, WA for a four-round welterweight bout. Fans in attendance will have a chance to meet and greet, former undisputed Heavyweight Champion James “Buster” Douglas. The Orozco vs. Acosta fight can be seen on The Boxeo Estelar broadcast that will air live on Estrella TV at 10:00 p.m. ET/ 7:00 p.m. PT. The card will also stream live on EstrellaTV.com and on YouTube via Fenomeno Studios. The Ring TV live stream will begin at approximately 5:30 p.m. PT through 7:00 p.m
