PACKYS-WORLD-500x300By Packy “Boom Boom” Goldstein

Oy Vay are you going to hear it today… With the loss of so many stars this year in Hollywood and the news consumed with these sonofbitchbastards (yes, one word and my word) terrorists, I have to vent in my column. I also derive some pleasure writing about our beloved sport of boxing. So let’s get right to it RSR readers.

Mike Tyson… Look, I am looking forward to Charles Martin defending against Anthony Joshua, but if you think that compares to any fight in Tyson’s career from November 86 – February 1990, you have lost your mind. Tyson generated excitement I had not seen since Muhammad Ali reigned supreme. True, the heavyweight division has gotten more exciting, but it still is lacking bigtime.

Canelo Alvarez – Amir Khan… I have said Alvarez all along, but I am flip flopping like a politician on this one and going with the upset. Khan by a decision in the 116-112 or 115 -113 range.

Terrorism… I am not a dumb Jew over here in my soon to be 86th year in the world and I know that social media something I hate, like that Bookface, Shitter and Instant Grits crap brings everything right to your front door. But in my day, of newspapers, sure we had crap going on with racism and such, which I detest as well and saw firsthand on Miami Beach when the signs read in 1949 “No Dogs or Jews Allowed on the Beach”. But these animals who are blowing up people in the name of a religion, which by the way, doesn’t preach hatred, but the opposite of peace! I wish we could round up all the bad seeds in one swoop and send them where they want to go! Take your 90 virgins and shove them up your sick asses you bastards! I have Muslim friends who I call my brothers and they know I am a Jew and love me just the same.

My buddy Imin and I had a long conversation the other night on my balcony and his heart is breaking for the good Muslim people who are taking heat for the bad sector. We have bad in all groups of people and sadly, the human condition blames the majority for the minority which has always been wrong in my book. I truly hope before I leave to that big boxing ring in the sky, this world can finally find some peace. This is I can say for sure. I do my part and love all people regardless of race, creed, color, religion, and gender.

JCJames Cagney… This man was simply put, magical on the screen. Here are my top five movies with Cagney.
5. Man Of A Thousand Faces
4. Public Enemy
3. The Roaring Twenties
2. Yankee Doodle Dandy
1. White Heat

My Pal Al (“Bad” Brad’s Father)…. If Al were alive today, he would be disgusted with the hatred in the world as I mentioned earlier with terrorism. All his life, he dedicated it to fighting for any underdog based on color, religion or sexuality. He didn’t talk the talk, he walked the walk. Many times, he would call me in full rage on the injustices he saw and fought back with every fiber in his body. I watched an RSR Video Email Bag Show Bradley did the other day where he had a viewer comment on his dad. When Bradley answered, he was very moved almost to tears because he so loves his dad and misses him 18 years after he went back home. I see so much of Al in Bradley, who also hates the injustices done to people who can’t always fight back or have a voice, which he takes their plight on just as his dad so many years ago. Al would be proud of Bradley, as I was of my Pal Al.

The Chutzpah Award… The Chutzpah Award goes to someone from my tribe, Barry Manilow. Yes, I am a Fanilow and damn proud of it. His songsBarry M really have meaning and he sings them with conviction. Give me an artist today that has as many hits or a career that will last as long as Barry’s! I’ll be with Mandy at The Copacabana waiting for your answer as I Write The Songs, Even Now!
