Last night Golden Boy Promotions brought a night of entertainment to the Fantasy Springs Resort and Casino in Indio, California. The night was headlined by undefeated Antonio “Relentless” Orozco, 23-0, 15 KO’s as he took on the battle tested Miguel Acosta, 28-8-2, 23 KO’s from Philadelphia, PA. Undefeated Antonio Orozco took out the veteran fighter Acosta in the 1st round. Acosta who is coming off four straight losses was completely outclassed from the start.”We take every fight seriously,” said Antonio Orozco. “We knew that Acosta is a former world champion, and we made sure to be as prepared as possible.

Fortunately, I was able to go in there and execute my game plan and ended the fight early. I want to fight a few more times this year and am ready to take on the best in the division. I am ready for the title shot. After the fight Acosta stated “when I found out I was fighting Orozco I started training vigorously to become a stronger fighter, but Orozco came out aggressively from the beginning”. “There was a moment in the ring when I had a small doubt, that’s when Orozco hurt me, I didn’t have time to recover he was aggressive and I couldn’t continue”. Orozco plans on spending some time with his children, then meeting with Golden Boy with hopes of fighting for a title at Super Lightweight by the end of the year.

The Orozco fight was Co-headlined by local favorite Andrew “El Chango” Cancio, 16-3-2, 12 KO’s from Blythe, California as he took on Hugo Cazarez, 40-8-2, 27 KO’s from Los Mochis, Mexico. The 2nd round brought much of the same as Andrew continued to land a barrage of punches to the face of Hugo. The end came at 2:49 of the 3rd as the corner of Cazarez had seen enough and threw in the towel. After the fight Cancio stated “I’m in shape i’m back in the ring, and I want a rematch with Ronnie Rios, I fought him good the first time but I know I can do better, I want to go out there and get that W”

Jason came out and stopped Lopez with a devastating body shot. Quigley stated after the fight “although I’m out here all smiling and happy, I love doing what I’m doing but at the end of the day all my hard work and everything I sacrifice, the guy across the ropes from me is in there to take it away from me and by God I’m not going to let anyone take that from me”.
