Dmitriy Salita’s Salita Promotions is offering up another edition of his Detroit Brawl series. Following the success of his past events in Detroit and his Brooklyn Brawl series in New York he brings to The Masonic Temple Detroit the current NABF title holder and ranked #5 by the WBO, #5 by the IBF, and #7 by the WBC, undefeated heavyweight, Andy Ruiz, JR., 27-0, 18 KO’s. Ruiz is scheduled to fight again in Sept. in California but says “I cannot wait to get back into the ring,” and “I’ve got some thunder coming with me to Detroit.” It’s very exciting to see a headliner of this caliber coming to Detroit in the middle of its reemergence as a powerhouse and center of the boxing world!

Along with Ruiz, Salita brings in undefeated welterweight KO specialist fighting out of Kazakhstan, Bakhtiyar Eyubov, 10-0, 10 KO’s, cruiserweight and Detroit favorite Demetrius Banks, 7-0, 4 KO’s and another Detroit favorite, middleweight Dorell Van Horn, JR., 9-0, 6KO’s to top of the evening. These four fights are worth the admission alone!

Also appearing this night will be Giorgi Gelashvili, 4-0, 2 KO’s, at welterweight fighting out of Georgia, Serdar Hudayberdiyev, 2-0, 2 KO’s of Turkmenistan also at welter and who also fought in the first two Detroit Brawls in Feb. and May of this year. At bantamweight fighting out of Detroit, Jarico O’Quinn, 1-0, 1 KO who had his pro debut at the Masonic in April of 2015, super bantamweight Zach Shamoun 3-0-1, 3 KO’s out of Bloomfield Hills MI. and cruiserweight Clarence Dubose, 3-0, 3 KO’s hailing from Eastpointe, MI. Making his pro debut out of Dearborn MI. will be junior middleweight, Gheith Karim.

I attended Salita’s first two offerings in his Detroit Brawl series and was impressed with his matches and the production of the events which both were held in the Jack White Theater in the Historic and iconic Masonic Temple in Detroit. I am looking forward to this excellent line-up headlined by a top ranked fighter coming up next month!
I will report back with the full fight card as soon as it’s available.

Detroit Brawl, Masonic Temple Detroit, 500 Temple St. Sat, July 16. Doors at 6:30, bouts start at 7:15. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster or TheMasonic.com.

Until next time. Keep your gloves up and elbows in!
