Memo to Kevin Durant Haters: How Soon You Forget!

KDHATE1By Elder Hugh “Holy” Tarrer

How amazing is it that every critic and curmudgeon of Kevin Durant’s decision to go to The Golden State Warriors are people that do not have rings. I could lump them in to one of the two categories I like to call the Have and the Have Nots. They have an opinion, but they have not a ring. They have their critiques and opinions but just like navels or something else everyone has one and they usually stink. And whether you’re a sportscaster or former athlete the fact that you do not have a championship should be pre-requisite for you chiming in and insulting someone in their prime.

Herman Edwards said it best “You play to win the game…Hello!” The bible says learn to do well in the book of Isaiah, and run the race to win in Philippians. Kevin Durant has seen the fact that staying in Oklahoma City at this juncture and missing out on the most talented team in his youth and this opportunity would be tragic. To quote the great Robert DeNiro from one of my favorite motion pictures A BRONX TALE “There is nothing worse than wasted talent”. What’s even worse old balding fat sloppy disgusting non-athletic never playing pro ball haters like Stephen A Smith and Jason Whitlock are insulting this man for an obvious decision.

Stephen A Smith actually had the temerity the audacity and the unmitigated gall to say. You shouldn’t go to a team that you almost beat. Hello…Why would anyone ever downgrade? Do you go into the Apple store and ask for the I-Phone 4? Do you lease last year’s Audi, if you have the means to get next year’s model? Who does that? I even heard them say he (KD) is cheating his way to a Championship. The last time I checked you still have to play 82 regular season games and the post season to get it. They don’t just give you a ring on potential. If that were the case we’d have ceremonies for best off season.

Charles Barkley is even more of a nuisance his comments are about as annoying as a pop-up banner that doesn’t have a close option. What is even more puzzling is Charles Barkley apparently got amnesia in reference to his playing days when he attempted to chase a championship in the latter part of his playing career when he went to Houston to join Hall of Famers Hakeem Olajuwon and Scottie Pippen. And you guessed it, Sir Charles is still ringless. And no matter which of his contemporaries he hangs with and gives verbal jabs to, they still shut him down with one question. How many rings you got? So when you question the motives of any one, you should never forget your shortcomings and regrets. The rest of the world won’t.

I get it though, “hurt people hurt people”. When you have a deficiency or regret in your life, and your dreams have gone by the wayside. You become resentful, and that turns in to bitter and that turns to hate. They didn’t have a problem when LeBron joined Miami, or when the Celtics assembled the original Big Three. Why not, you will have to ask them.
