Today is the 35-year anniversary of Lew Jenkins’ death. He was World Lightweight Champion from May 10, 1940 until December 19, 1941. Jenkins died age 64, on Friday, October 30, 1981. His boxing nickname was The Sweetwater Swatter and he is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
