Alexander Povetkin (30-1, 22 KOs), will face former WBC titleholder Bermane Stiverne (25-2-1, 21 KOs) on December 17th at the Ekaterinburg Expo, Russia. At stake will be the WBC interim heavyweight title, with the winner getting a shot at the convalescing Deontay Wilder. Povetkin a former Olympic champion and WBA regular title holder gets the home field advantage after his promoter won a purse bid. He’s coming off a win over Mariusz Wach by KO in the 12th rounds. Stiverne, who fights out of Canada, defeated Derric Rossy by ten-round decision last time out.
