Captain America, Thor & the Superbowl

By Geno McGahee

The Superbowl is quickly approaching and the event is known as much for football as it is for its advertisements.  The TV spots do not come cheap, ranging from 3 million to a reported 12 million for an advertisement.

Despite the cost, several production companies have grabbed positions during the event in hopes of drawing enough attention to bring in the masses to watch their latest films. Two of the biggest films to be advertised feature superheroes: Thor and Captain America.

During the game this year, you can expect a trailer for CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER, a movie set to come out in the summer, featuring Chris Evans as the masked, patriotic super soldier.  Tommy Lee Jones also stars in this 140 million dollar production.

THOR, aka “THE MIGHTY THOR” also comes out this year, featuring Chris Hemsworth as the hammer-wielding superhero, along with Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins, in this highly anticipated release.  You will be treated to a trailer during the Superbowl as well, promoting this 150 million dollar production.

With Thor, Captain America, Batman and Spiderman ready for big screen blockbusters, the comic book and superhero fans will be in for many treats and the football fans will get a sneak peak at many of the upcoming blockbusters headed our way in the near future.  The movie future looks bright.
