Ernest Borgnine: A Great Life

By “Bad” Brad Berkwitt

Last night as I hosted a fight party at my home, the screen gem THE DIRTY DOZEN made in 1967 came on prior to the big fight and there on the TV for the groups viewing pleasure was none other than Ernest Borgnine in the role of General Worden. Though he didn’t have a lot of screen time, his scenes with the late Lee Marvin captivated the crowd.

Over the years, Ermes Borgnino better known to us as Ernest Borgine has played in so many great roles that just one article could not do the man enough justice. In this, his 94th year on Planet Earth, it warms my heart to see that he is top spot on Yahoo today for trends as of this article and that tonight, in front of many of his acting peers, and others looking down on him, he will receive from the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) the Lifetime Achievement Award.

It is well deserved along with the Best Actor Oscar he received for the role in the film classic Marty way back in 1955.

One sidenote to this story for the RSR readers is Ernest is a huge boxing fan!

RSR wishes Mr Borgnine the very best on his SAG Lifetime Achievement Award and may he live another 94 years!
