Having won the British title against the “Wise Guy” Frank Buglioni in March of this year, Callum “The One” Johnson has managed to get himself a shot at the IBF Light Heavyweight World title.

After a rocky few years, dealing with the loss of his father, Callum Johnson came back in style and stopped the very talented Buglioni inside the first round of their British title fight.

Johnson’s knockout display against Buglioni, as well as the fact that he now holds both the British and Commonwealth titles, has earned him a number 8 world ranking with the IBF.

The former Commonwealth games gold medallist, has always been touted to achieve big things in the light heavyweight division and now he gets his chance to make a real statement and put himself up there, right at the very top.

All he has to do, is beat the undefeated Russian – Artur Beterbiev – which might be easier said than done!

Beterbiev boasts a 12-0 record as a Professional and has won all of his fights by KO. Alongside this, he was an incredibly successful amateur winning both silver and gold medals at the Amateur World Championships.

Whatever man wins, I think we will be in for an explosive night, when two big guys and even bigger punches meet in the ring. Johnson will have everything to gain and nothing to lose, whilst Beterbiev will have his IBF World title on the line.

According to a tweet from Johnson’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, the fight is scheduled to take place somewhere in the US on October 6th.
