Steve Cunningham Set to Fight in Germany

IBF cruiserweight champion Steve Cunningham (23-2, 12 KOs) arrived in Berlin, Germany last Friday for his rescheduled defense against mandatory challenger Enad Licina (19-2, 10 KOs) on Saturday. Cunningham was originally slated to face Licina on January 22nd, however that clash was delayed when an illness to IBF middleweight champion Sebastian Sylvester cancelled that card. Promoter Sauerland Event was then able to reschedule the bout for Saturday’s big show at the RWE Sporthalle in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany. “These things happen in boxing,” said Cunningham, who went back to the U.S. to train between fight dates “I’m glad that my title defense can already be made up on February 12….on Saturday I will be in top form.” The card will also feature WBA cruiserweight champion Steve Herelius (21-1-1, 12 KOs) against Yoan Pablo Hernandez (23-1, 12 KOs), plus Arthur Abraham (31-2, 25 KOs) against Stjepan Bozic (24-4, 15 KOs).
