In an age where UFC fans are always trying to downplay boxing many UFC fighters have tried to cross over and fight elite boxing champs past their prime. The most famous was the predictable massacre that was Floyd Mayweather, JR. Vs Conor McGregor. While fans of McGregor tried to cling on to some measure of victory claiming McGregor landed a lot of punches that were basically ineffective, most people who know boxing saw the fight for the low grade sparring match and circus that is was. As history repeats itself Canada’s version of Mayweather, JR. Vs McGregor came to a predictable end.

Friday night in Quebec Jean Pascal showed why boxers always have better footwork, waist movement, stamina and ring generalship than UFC fighters. UFC veteran Steve Bosse suffered a TKO loss to Jean Pascal in what was dubbed the Canadian version of Floyd Mayweather, JR. Vs Conor McGregor. Former UFC fighter Steve Bosse’s, 1-1, 1 KO second professional boxing match took place on Friday night in Quebec, and to the surprise of no one, former WBC light-heavyweight (175 lbs) champion Jean Pascal, 33-5-1, 20 KO’s was able to finish him it a fight that was a complete annihilation. Even at a heavier weight class than he’s accustomed to Pascal moved far better than Bosse and displayed far more power and control.

Even the commentators in French and English made the obvious observation that Pascal spent a decent chunk of the fight not taking his opponent seriously. Nevertheless, Pascal dropped Bosse with a left hook in round 3, but the UFC tough man was able to beat the count. Steve’s toughness is something MMA fans had seen when he engaged in a three-round brawl Vs Sean O’Connell, which proved to be his last UFC appearance before making a career switch to pro boxing.

That said, this fight should’ve never been sanctioned because not only did it have a lackluster attendance but the talent gap was apparent from the first bell. Boxers put a lot of blood, sweat and tears in to their craft. Before UFC fighters think that boxing is an easy game or disrespect the skill and athleticism needed to be a champion they had better start put some respect on the name of boxing.

UFC fighters are often stiff with very poor footwork. This is a recipe for getting your clock cleaned. And before anyone claims UFC requires more skill understand that fluidity of motion and footwork is an important part of any fight and the same fools that praised Ronda Rousey and Conor McGregor even after they were knocked out failed to see the brilliance and skill that made Floyd Mayweather, JR. and elite all time great. You better start respecting the game!
